We have gotten a lot of requests for updates to our Bainbridge Fiber project:
As of today, over 900 addresses are available for fiber service in 4 zones with an additional 230 addresses becoming available over the course of the next 2 weeks. Most recently, addresses in the area of Morningside Drive and Simms, Pine and Green Streets were added.
New zones to be added in the next 2 weeks include portions of Pecan, Woodland and Morningside Drives, as well as Stewart Avenue.
We anticipate having approximately 1350 addresses able to be serviced by the end of November.

Our next Comprehensive Plan meeting will be held tomorrow evening at 6:00 PM at the BPS Training Facility:

Update: Street closure will begin Monday, October 28 at 8:00 AM.
Florida Street, from Calhoun to Jackson Street, will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the next 5 weeks due to hotel construction taking place. Access to the condos will be from the Jackson Street entrance. Detour route will be West Street.
Please use caution if you travel in the area and be cognizant of workers along with their equipment.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation mandates that the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Council conduct audits of criminal justice agencies every three years to ensure adherence to relevant statutes, regulations, and policies.
Last week, Bainbridge Public Safety underwent an audit by GCIC to evaluate our compliance. Janette Mowry plays a key role in ensuring that we meet GCIC’s compliance requirements. She oversees the audit process and collaborates closely with the auditor. We are pleased to report that our department was found compliant in every area assessed.
This marks the first time we can recall the department achieving a perfect score on a GCIC audit. This accomplishment reflects the dedication of our entire team and the importance of each member’s contributions. We are proud of each of them for their hard work, and we would like to extend a special thanks to Janette for her efforts in keeping us compliant.

Spotlight on Service:
City employees Randee Eubanks, Joe Kisor and John Mills (and wife Jennifer) volunteered this past Saturday morning to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's and its fundraising efforts.
Thanks for representing the City of Bainbridge so well!

Yesterday morning, we were able to be a part of the official Ribbon Cutting of the 1st Rural King store location in the state of Georgia...right here in Bainbridge! Mayor Edward Reynolds was asked to welcome the group of store employees and locals who gathered inside the store.
Rural King, combined with the investment of a drive through location of First Port City Bank, has transformed that shopping center and has been key to changing the look and feel of that end of Shotwell Street!

Bainbridge is proud to host the USTA State Tennis Championship kicking off today at the Bill Reynolds Tennis Center! As you see our guests in town shopping and dining, be sure to show them the hospitality Bainbridge is known for in the tennis community!

At the City Council meeting held earlier this week, Mayor Edward Reynolds presented a proclamation recognizing October as Blind Achievement Equality Month. Ronnie Shephard, President of our local chapter of the National Federation of the Blind, accepted it on their behalf.

At last night's City Council meeting, Arcadio Macmillan was recognized as our Employee of the Quarter. Arcadio has been a member of our Parks Team since 2020 and was recently promoted to a supervisor position. He was nominated for his dedication to our downtown area, which he oversees the park maintenance of, and his leadership when asked to step up when a coworker went out on medical leave.
Arcadio is originally from Donalsonville, Ga and is married to Nadia and father to 3 children.
Please join us in congratulating Arcadio for his commitment to our community and loyalty to the quality of our parks system!

Two of our city staff recently had the fantastic opportunity to meet with economic development teams from across the state and tour some amazing projects in Thomaston yesterday. These networking activities are invaluable, allowing us to share ideas and forge connections that will help us bring fresh insights back to Bainbridge. Together, we’re working to foster growth and innovation in our community!
