May's Fire Safety Tip: Plan Your Escape From Fire *If a fire breaks out in your home, you have to get out fast. *To prepare, sit down with your family and agree on an escape plan. *Be sure that everyone knows at least two unobstructed exits — doors and windows — from every room. *Decide on a meeting place outside where everyone will meet after they escape. *Have your entire household practice your escape plan at least twice a year.

Today, we were proud to dedicate the City of Bainbridge’s Riverwalk to the Edward C. Fogg III and Lisbeth A. Fogg Charitable Trust. Their remarkable generosity made possible not only the Riverwalk itself, but also the grand staircase at Chason Park and a vital connection to more than six miles of paved trails along the scenic Flint River. We offer our sincere appreciation to George and Carole Floyd for their outstanding service as facilitators of the trust. Their dedication and hard work were essential in helping the City of Bainbridge secure the resources needed to bring these projects to fruition. George and Carole were joined today by their son Jimbo, who spoke on behalf of Board of Trustees. Thanks to the vision and commitment of everyone involved, the Riverwalk now stands as a lasting gift to our community — a place for families, neighbors, and visitors to enjoy the beauty of the Flint River for years to come.

Did You Know? The City of Bainbridge has established cemetery trusts for all four City-owned cemeteries — creating a way for individuals, businesses, and organizations to contribute to their expansion and improvement. 🌟 A special thank you to Sunstop, the first donor to all five cemetery trusts! We’ve been notified by Georgia Power that crews will soon be in our area to help improve the safety and reliability of the local energy grid. One of the main causes of power outages? Trees and limbs touching power lines. To prevent this, Georgia Power’s contractor will be trimming—and in some cases, removing—trees that are too close to lines or within right-of-ways. This work is performed by professional utility arborists and specialized contractors to ensure safety and quality. If any work is needed on your property, you’ll be contacted directly. For questions or concerns, reach out to Georgia Power’s Customer Support Team: 📞 (877) 276-0578 📧 georgiapowertrees@southernco.com Thank you for your understanding as these improvements help keep our power more reliable and our neighborhoods safer!

In March, Bainbridge Public Safety launched a new initiative: “Hydrant Heroes: Keeping Bainbridge Safe, One Flow at a Time.” This program focuses on making sure all our community’s fire hydrants are up to NFPA standards—without breaking the budget. As part of this project, you have started seeing yellow-painted hydrants around town. Wondering what that means? ➡️ Yellow hydrants = hydrant height between 7–12 inches ➡️ There are currently 179 of them across Bainbridge This is just the beginning! The goal is to make sure our hydrants are always: ✅ Fully operational ✅ Easy to access ✅ Clearly identified in emergencies Thanks for supporting public safety as we roll out this important project!

🌟 Spotlight on Service 🌟 Bainbridge Public Safety officers and investigators have been showing up in a big way for our community over the past week! They kicked things off last Saturday by volunteering at the Oak House's Color War at the Boat Basin, followed by lending a hand Thursday at the delicious Chicken Plate Fundraiser — both events held in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. To wrap up the week, they joined the fun at the Recreation Authority’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Bill Reynolds Sports Complex, volunteering their time and offering fingerprint kits for families. We’re so grateful for their dedication both on and off the clock. Thank you for keeping our community safe — and connected!
