Bainbridge, GA – [September 15, 2025] – More than 80 professional and amateur disc golfers from across the Southeast and beyond converged at Bainbridge Oaks Disc Golf Course last weekend for the Visit Bainbridge Presents: Reckoning on the River – FallOut Powered by Prodigy. The B-tier PDGA-sanctioned event showcased one of Georgia’s rising stars in the disc golf scene and continued to solidify Bainbridge as a destination for outdoor recreation and competitive play.
Players traveled from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and even further afield for a chance to compete on the acclaimed Bainbridge Oaks course, which, despite being open for just a year and a half, has already developed a strong regional reputation. With its thoughtful design, scenic layout, and challenging play, Bainbridge Oaks is quickly becoming a must-play course in the Southeast.
“Disc golf has given Bainbridge yet another way to bring visitors to town—people who may otherwise never have had a reason to stop here,” said Steve O'Neil, Community and Economic Development Director. “Our players aren’t just here for the tournament—they’re supporting our local businesses. They stay in our hotels, eat at our restaurants, shop downtown, and fuel up before heading home. It’s been an all-around win for the city.”
The growth of the sport—and of the Bainbridge Oaks course—is evident on platforms like the UDisc app, where player reviews and course ratings have helped draw even more traffic to the area. In addition, the course has been featured on YouTube and other disc golf content platforms, with positive reviews helping to amplify its reach.
“We believe Bainbridge Oaks is designed well enough to draw players in the same way traditional golfers travel to play iconic courses. Whether for competition or casual rounds, disc golfers are willing to drive to play a great course,” Steve continued. “And because the sport is accessible—requiring only a few discs to get started—it’s a great opportunity for our community to develop a local disc golf culture. It’s fun, affordable, and keeps you active.”
The tournament, classified as a B-tier event, continues a tradition of well-run events at Bainbridge Oaks. Last year, course officials petitioned the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) to host an A-tier tournament but were told the course had not yet been open long enough. That could change in early 2026.
“We’re confident that this February, we’ll be ready to host our first A-tier event, which will bring some of the top names in disc golf to Bainbridge,” said Steve. “It’s an exciting time not just for disc golfers, but for our whole community.”
Tournament Director Patrick Harrity wrapped up the tournament held this past weekend and said " We had a great turnout and beautiful weather. Bainbridge's course is definitely one of the best in the southeast and is constantly growing in popularity."
