ATLANTA, Ga. – The Georgia Downtown Association (GDA) has recognized The Element by Marriott—Downtown Bainbridge with its 2026 Premier New Development Award during the GDA Annual Conference in Rome. The award honors exceptional new developments that strengthen downtown districts through thoughtful design, strategic investment, and lasting community impact.
Representing an investment of more than $30 million, The Element by Marriott has become a transformative addition to Downtown Bainbridge. The 100-room hotel overlooking the Flint River provides upscale accommodations while serving as a catalyst for tourism, economic development, and downtown revitalization. Designed to complement the city’s historic downtown and riverfront, the development strengthens connectivity between visitors, local businesses, restaurants, entertainment venues, and the Flint Riverwalk.

The Element by Marriott fills a critical need for high-quality lodging in Bainbridge, positioning the community to attract more visitors, meetings, conferences, and extended stays while strengthening the local tourism economy. The development features 100 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, fitness center, outdoor pool, and direct access to the Flint Riverwalk, creating an inviting destination that seamlessly connects guests to Downtown Bainbridge’s shops, restaurants, and recreational amenities.
A key component of the project is the adjacent public parking deck, developed to serve both hotel guests and the broader community. By expanding parking accessibility for the riverfront, downtown businesses, and entertainment district, the project demonstrates a thoughtful approach to shared infrastructure that supports continued downtown growth and accessibility.
The hotel is expected to employ approximately 30 full-time staff members while generating significant economic activity throughout the downtown district. Increased visitation will benefit local retailers, restaurants, and attractions, while additional hotel/motel revenue will further support Bainbridge’s continued investment in its downtown and riverfront.
