The City of Bainbridge will join municipalities across the state in celebrating Georgia Cities Week, April 20–25. Sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA), the week highlights the important role cities play in providing services and enhancing quality of life for residents.
Based in Atlanta, the Georgia Municipal Association is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational opportunities, employee benefit programs, and consulting services to all 536 of its member cities.
This year’s Georgia Cities Week theme, “Love Your City,” encourages residents to take pride in their community and engage in local events that showcase what makes Bainbridge special.
The City of Bainbridge has planned a variety of activities throughout the week for residents to enjoy:
Monday: Living History Tour at Oak City Cemetery
Tuesday: Popsicles in the Park
Wednesday: Jazzing in the Park Brown Bag Lunch
Thursday: “Love Your City” themed photo opportunity
Friday: Community Scavenger Hunt
In addition, the City will host a coloring sheet contest for primary school-aged children, giving young residents a chance to showcase their creativity. Selected artwork will be displayed throughout the community during Georgia Cities Week.
Mayor Sylvia Washington emphasized the importance of the week, stating, “Georgia Cities Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate what makes Bainbridge such a special place to live, work, and visit. I encourage everyone to come out, participate in the events, and show their love for our city.”
Residents are invited to join in the festivities and celebrate the vibrant spirit of Bainbridge throughout the week.
