The City of Bainbridge will hold a Swearing-In Ceremony for newly elected and returning city officials on Tuesday, January 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

During the ceremony, Mayor-Elect Sylvia Washington, Councilperson-Elect Marquita Johnson, Councilperson Glennie Bench, and Councilperson Keenan Adams will be administered their oaths of office. A short City Council meeting will immediately follow the ceremony.

Mayor-Elect Sylvia Washington makes history as the first Black mayor and first female mayor of the City of Bainbridge. She previously served four years on the Bainbridge City Council. Washington retired from the Department of Labor and is married to Bobby Washington.

Councilperson-Elect Marquita Johnson will be sworn in to serve on the Bainbridge City Council, marking the beginning of her term in public office. Johnson is the CEO of JBCF Business Solutions, Inc.

Councilperson Glennie Bench has served on the Bainbridge City Council since 2009. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Southwest Georgia Oil and is married to Steve Bench. They have one grown son, Steven.

Councilperson Keenan Adams begins his second term on the City Council. He is employed as the Senior Operations Manager of Metro Power and is married to Aubrey Adams. Together, they have three sons.

The public is invited to attend this important civic event as the City of Bainbridge welcomes its elected leadership for the upcoming term. We will have the front door to City Hall open at 6:00 PM as well as the entrance to Council Chambers off of Clark Street open for your convenience.
