Public Works Director: Tommy King
The Public Works Department of the City of Bainbridge is responsible for constructing and maintaining city streets, trash collection, animal control, and maintenance of city buildings. The public works department also assists all other departments in the construction and maintenance of facilities at a much reduced cost compared to contracting these services. The public works department also provides management for the solid waste collection and disposal of the city. The city provides garbage pickup twice weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The public works department operates the Bainbridge animal shelter that is a model for our area of the state. While the city does not have a leash law, the city does have a law that requires animal owners to take responsibility for their animals and the actions of their animals. The city requires an annual city license for each dog kept in the city and requires that all dogs be annually inoculated for rabies. The animal shelter is located on Cox Street and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. until 4:20 p.m.
