The Swamp Gravy Storytelling Festival began in 2000 and is held annually the second weekend in August. This festival features nationally-recognized storytellers, scenes and music from Swamp Gravy, Georgia's Folk Life Paly, food, fun, and special sales events around town.

Award winning tellers such as Katheryn Windham, Donald Davis, David Holt, Jay O'Callahan, Doc McConnell, and Ed Stivender have enthralled audiences at past festivals. Workshops are also available at the Swamp Gravy Storytelling Festival, and there is always something going on such as quilt displays or an antique tractor show.
